| Touba Prayer House Construction Project
 Sunday August 16th, 2008 will remain memorable in the calendar activities of Sopey Cheikhoul Khadim. For it is the day the Honorable Serigne Murtalla Mbacke, Ibn Serigne Abdul Ahad Mbacke Ibn Khadimu-r-Rassul, was welcomed for the first time in SCK premises and he was very pleased and honored to be among us in order to introduce and present the object of his visit.
Acting under the orders of Serigne Muhamadu Lamine Bara Mbacke Ibn Serigne Muhamadu Fadal Mbacke, current Caliph of Muridiyya, Serigne Murtalla the project manager, has already visited every Keur Serigne Tuba in the US, met with the Murid disciples around and introduce them with the object of his visit: the Construction Project of the Eid Prayer Place in the holy city of Tuba. A lot of history surrounds the designation, by the Shaykh himself, as the place for Mass Eid Prayers (Eid el Fitr and Eid el Kabir) which existed way before the Great Mosque of Tuba, for its original site has been mismatched with that of the Great Mosque by the time it was to be built. After a solemn speech before the attending audience of Murid disciples Serigne Murtalla Ibn Serigne Abdul Ahad, the project manager, who expressed how satisfied and how honored he felt to be associated in the execution of the project by the general caliph, Serigne Bara, did not dissimulate his gratitude for the support SCK has concomitantly displayed in welcoming him and renewing their strong and firm commitment to the triumph of the Muridiyya cause and the success of any project initiated within the community in which they are associated and belong to. He also urged every disciple wherever he or she can be, to bring in his or her contribution for the achievement of this great project for the construction of Serigne Tuba’s Eid prayer place. Serigne Bara in his memorable action, of laying the first brick, which marked the beginning of the great work. That ceremony took place in the presence of Serigne Mountakha (the first contributor) Ibn Serigne Bassiru Mbacke, and many other dignitaries of the Muridiyya. Serigne Bara did not put Serigne Saliou’s gesture to oblivion and has given to the achievement of this project a place of choice in his agenda; the reason why he entrusted Serigne Murtalla Ibn Serigne Abdul Ahad with the completion of this mission Serigne Saliou dear so much. Serigne Murtalla in return entrusted Daraa Sopey Cheikhoul Khadim with coordinating the efforts, the financial and material contributions from the Murid Diaspora. SCK is more than honored and is deeply moved by the choice, for being the humble supervisor in this endeavor to achieve Allah’s satisfaction in building Him a prayer house, and be in the service of Serigne Tuba by following all recommendations from Serigne Bara and is, therefore, inviting the Murid Diaspora in the US, Europe, Africa and Asia to joint hands and reap the rewards together “Ina Laha Mahanaa”. Thus initiatives and major decisions may be taken by its board, but their implementation is the resort of each Dahira in the US according to their own agendas and means of mobilizing members for the achievement of their set financial goals. Thus Sck Board met in that framework, with members and sympathizers in addition to all presidents of all New York Murid Dahiras in order to have their input regarding the actions to be taken for a good management of the project. These commissions have been put into place by the board for that purpose and they are as follow: · Communication Commission · Organization Committee · Collect Commission Each of these commissions will held a preliminary meeting to set up their own teams according to the lists of volunteers; provide action plans to team members; and determinate their own weekly meeting schedule. Commission team-leaders will hold a coordination meeting with SCK board whenever deemed necessary.

 During the whole month of Shahban, preceding the blessed month of Ramadan, Shaykh Ahmadu Bamba used to multiply warnings against mundane activities or amusements of any kind. These sermons echoed like blatant reminder prior the blessed month looming in the horizon. It was a way to get people ready to better take profit from this sublime month of devotion.

 Reported on the authority of Sahl bin Sa'ad that the Prophet said, "Jannah has an entrance by the name of Ar-Rayyaan which is exclusively reserved for the fasting individuals. On the Day of Judgment, they will be called to pass through this entrance, after which it will be closed behind them and no one else will be allowed to use it."

Those of us who live here in the West have been blessed with many material bounties that are unimaginable to many of our co-religionists in the East. The amount of food we enjoy and unfortunately the amount that many of us waste, the expansiveness of most of our homes, our ready ability to own cars, trucks, and vans, our easy access to higher education, our ability to marry at a young age, all of these blessings and many others are incomprehensible to many Muslims in faraway lands struggling to live from day to day.

| Affectionately called El Hadji Bara, he is the namesake of Serigne Muhamadu Lamine Bara MBACKE Ibn Khadimu-r-Rassul, for he came to this world when the latter was visiting Serigne Muhamadu Fadilou Mbacke. His father entrusted him to his namesake at an early age, who gave him an excellent education. Moreover he taught him the Quran and consequently calligraphy writing style. From the same source his excellent training in religious sciences was completed. After spending many years with the later he returned to his father in order to follow his spiritual training. At 82 years old Serigne Bara is the sixth Caliph of Muridiyya since the passing of the late Serigne Saliou Mbacke ( May Allah increase his favors) on December 28th , 2oo8. Following his father’s steps with regard to Serigne Touba, he traded in with him his filial bond with that of an exceptional disciple. He was his right-hand-man. He was also well known for his loving care and indescribable affection for his father and spiritual guide. He became soon committed to his father’s service; he has played several roles as his official representative, or right hand man in many tasks requiring tact, honesty and commitment. He has performed several times the Umra (little pilgrimage) in Mecca, very fluent in Arabic and French, Serigne Bara is also well known for his insightfulness and open-mindedness. He has a great spirit of organization; his skills have been put to the tests on several occasions as the leader of Serigne Fallou’s family. Very entrepreneurial, he was very close to Serigne Saliou and has been even been his chauffeur for seven years. In the same way he had tight relationships with Serigne Abdu Qadr Mbacke and would escort him to lead Friday mass prayer at the Grande Mosquee of Touba. Serigne Muhamadu Lamine Bara was well renowned through his remarkable interventions in the farms of Serigne Saliou Mbacke in Khelcom, with his disciples and the entire family of Serigne Fallou Mbacke (clearing the fields, maintenance or harvesting). He is well known for his regular attendance of Friday Mass prayers at the Grande Mosquee since its grand opening of the on Friday June 7, 1963. His kind-heartedness, generosity and sincerity are well known. Serigne Bara Mbacke is very attached to the family of Khadimu-r-Rassul and has great respect, gratitude and exemplary devotion for his predecessors and wants to be the worthy successor of the message of Serigne Touba. Hard working and great unifier, Serigne Bara has always been working for the perpetuation of Shaykh Ahmadu Bamba legacy. Since he ascended the caliphate he took the Kazzu Rajab celebration to a more significant level, with the support of his brothers, family and disciples. May Allah (SWT), by the grace of the Elected (Pbuh), the benediction of his illustrious grand-father Cheikhoul Khadim, and the Baraka (favors) of his spiritual master, Serigne Fallou Mbacke, give him a longer life and ultimately give a happy ending to all his projects.  Assistant Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania, Pr Cheikh Anta Babou has been the key note speaker at SCK last November university.He has been brillant in his presentation of this masterpierce about Muridiyya and has taken the opportunity to express his deep gratitude for being the guest of SCK for an expose of his book which is the outcome of sixteen years of research on the subject, as he said.
