When the Shaykh set foot in the port of Dakar, Senegal in November 11,1902 he boarded the train to Saint-Louis where he stayed for 24 days , thereafter he stopped in Louga, proceeded to Sanoussi to visit Serigne Cire Lo, for a month. From there he continued to Makka Samba Babou, then made stops at Gor Mak Diaw, Doriga, Keur Makhtar Binta and finally reached Darou Salaam. His brother Shaykh Anta Mbacke welcomed him, and for the reception slaughtered cows, camels, sheep, goats, roasters etc…. He did not leave anything behind for welcoming the shaykh during the latter’s two months visit, to make it a memorable visit ,and entertain the many guests and disciples flocking to his compound every day to pay their respects and receive prayers and blessings from their hero, master and spiritual guide they have not seen for many years.
It is in commemoration of these joyful moments of reunion between the master, Shaykh Ahmadou Bamba Khadimou Rassoul, and his disciple of the first hour, Mame Shaykh Anta, that the Murid community of New York, under the leadership of the Dahira Darou Salaam will be celebrating on November 30th, 2007.
